I have genuinely *never* seen an NYC mayor get an ovation from a TV crowd before. I thought we were contractually obligated to boo them.

he's not born in the U.S., so he can't. But he wouldn't be old enough until next year.

I didn't know he wasn't born in the US. I used to tease my England-born sister about that caveat when we were kids (as if I was going to end up president anytime), though, in actuality, she was born on a US Air Force base, so probably would qualify.

I think as long as you have citizenship in the US at birth, it doesn't really matter where you're born. But I'd have to look into it more to be sure about that. I think it's "born a US citizen," more than "born in the US."

Correct, obtaining US citizenship at birth which you can do either by being born here or born to a US citizen abroad in which case you get a state department document called “Consular Report of Birth Abroad”

There are many other reasons I have, personally, for him not being able to run (I'd insist at least a partial spine be required for the position), but none of them are constitutionally upheld. "Loathsome" is okay as long as you're a US citizen at birth.
