I'll stand with Biden on most things, but especially choosing employment over taming inflation. That seems like the wrong move now, but I think we still underestimate the effect the GFC had on how people think these days. It left deep scars and effected a permanent change in thinking.

Yeah, I have an Aunt who went through a pretty hard time after being laid off in the GFC, less materially than psychologically. She's never been quite the same since. Clings to her current job like a drowning man.

It made Millennials fearful, Gen-X more embittered, and ruined more boomers than this website realizes. Made the relationship between employers and employees feel far more antagonistic. Unpredictable winners and losers.

Grateful for my first preceptor who viewed her job as a means to an end to fund owning horses. I was scandalized, how could you not love what you do but after 15 years she was right. It's an exchange of labor to fund the person you are outside of work. Happiest I've ever been since realizing that.

The other countries that chose austerity have the same problems with an insurgent right wing *and* the economy sucks. And they did it without a charismatic guy that was on the TV all the time and a fawning media; they're voting hard right guys with rotten-coleslaw appeal.
