The Black man in charge of the league called the police to help him with the disruptive *parents*. They already released the bodycam footage.

Have you heard about Nevada Neymar Pierre, a 3-year-old soccer prodigy, has gone viral following a controversial incident where police were called to his youth soccer match and removed the boy because he was playing too good! He scored 40 goals in 5 games! And these asshole parents called 911. WTF!

I think we underestimate the appeal of antigambling politics because every problem gambler is surrounded by 3-10 people who are absolutely sick of their shit.

Lula won in part by banning online gambling

Okay I tried not to learn about this but oh man that Tamara lady is a craaaazyyyyu wrecker I know the type. Ethan is lame but man, some people are just rabid homewreckers. They love to do it.

Nevertheless, he is responsible for taking part. He is responsible for the things that he said as part of taking part. He is responsible for having chosen to do this.

This is a bit of an aside, but I don't particularly like chocolate, and I consider it incredibly indicative if somebody gives me chocolate as a gift because though I don't make a fuss about it, it is something people who know me are aware of. And now it's getting worse apparently!

A lot of people who are bad friends get really excited by becoming parents because you can be a bad friend to your kids and they just kind of have to put up with it because they can't survive on their own and don't know better

Lying about dogs to encourage big-hearted families to adopt challenging dogs (not talking about dangerous dogs here even, just dogs with real challenges) is part of a destabilizing pattern that sees functional people as an infinite well of energy to deal with every other problem.

I'm going to be stupid for a second and say, how can there be a cost-of-living crisis literally everywhere? Where does the money end up going lol and don't just say billionaires because they don't have enough money to account for it.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

Suddenly reminded of all the discourse around people calling it "dystopian" that Costco was building a location with 800 apartments above the store, as if it wouldn't be super convenient and awesome to live in them.

P(aul) Frazee@pfrazee.com

The apartments in the Cheesecake Factory really aren’t that bad. I’ve lived in way worse

I really haven't banged this drum that much lately, although I'm sure you could find old posts of mine about it, but I need to get back to this I think: one of the most dangerous things that happened in the modern world is advertising got too good. Expectations are out of whack.

WILDWOOD is a beautiful, enchanting, magical film and a true love letter to Portland and fantasy. Really phenomenal, with no real faults to speak of. I'd recommend it to anyone. 🌲

A lot of people are mad about their property tax because they're a-holes, but of course a huge part of it is they never looked at the breakdown so they assumed once they didn't have a mortgage any more it would free up that much per month, but in many mkts it was like 80% insurance/prop tax by then.

look it's time that we face facts: being president makes you gay. the only way to survive the enormous pressures of running the free world is homosexuality.

Obama on Abdul El-Sayed: "You see those big guns? That's why he wears those t-shirts. I never campaigned in a t-shirt. I ain't got those big guns."

Many of them were, they were just voting for the deportation of 20 million Guatemalans and Haitians and Venezuelans instead of whatever ethnicity they are. They knew what they wanted and they voted for it.

Matthew Sheffield@matthew.flux.community

Yes exactly. I think there is an unfortunate tendency to blame voters who often are very hardpressed for time and lack media literacy. A majority of Hispanic men voted for Trump, as did nearly half of Hispanic women. They weren't voting for deporting 20 million people.

We dunk on rural voters when they vote for people that cream farmers just because they also wanted something else antisocial even more, this applies to plenty of other groups too. We're past pretending that minorities don't sometimes have aims we disagree with ok.

I'm fine with young people also feeling the consequences of choices they make. I feel sorry for the loyal ones, I don't feel sorry for the disloyal ones. Nobody thought Trump was a kind man.

BeshearStan@beshearstan.bsky.social

Whole lot of Gen Z really went to the polls in 2024 just to cook their own futures.

I don't know, he also made huge inroads with minorities for a Republican presidential candidate. It's clearly complicated.

Lane Hutson Enjoyer@adlemm.bsky.social

How fucking wild is it that people in 2026 have just settled on Presidential speech so deranged and racist that it would have gotten you cancelled in the 80s, is totally cool and not even worth reporting on anymore?

In the interest of establishing my limits on historical preservationism, fuck the Eagles nest. I can never exactly condone arson but I wish that shit had spontaneously burned down 1 million years ago. Fuck that place.

Exactly, so I see this and think: 1. Are all of these things true? Which are true to what extent? Where is our data best to know which of these things are most verifiably true? 2. What else has to be true to square that combination of true things? Because it's genuinely unintuitive how all can be!

If inflation is primarily in areas where people cannot really cut back, like insurance, you could easily see consumer spending go up with consumer sentiment getting substantially worse. I'm not saying these things are the answer, but plausible answers definitely exist.

It doesn't inherently mean that I think anybody is lying to me, but what's the context for all of the information that we do have, and what new thing has to be in play for things that traditionally didn't go together to now be true at the same time?

Some of these are not that weird though. Home prices actually have been coming down in a lot of markets. But most sellers aren't motivated or prefer to time the sale, even if it means accessing a HELOC. Also inherently going to be bolstered by high stock prices.

Yeah. I think after reading this at least some of the “vibecession” being false comes down to a lot of people who used to make $70k and declare $30k on their taxes now having to declare $70k because there actually IS a paper trail if they get audited.
