Disgraceful and disgraced South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol will make a statement in ten minutes.

Yoon—he will accept the vote of the National Assembly

Says because it's dawn, there aren't enough assembled at the National Assembly to make their request (for standing down martial law) official, but as soon as they have a quorum, he will do it. He has ordered the retreat of all military personnel.

Requests the cooperation of the National Assembly in matters of governance (his reason for martial law was ostensibly because the NA was thwarting his policies) That's it. He was OUT OF THERE with his tail between his legs as soon as he said like, those five sentences.

National Assembly member Cho Kuk warning the military to stand down, that with the NA invalidating martial law, they would be committing a crime if they executed martial law Announces that "when the sun comes up" they will begin impeachment proceedings—they are drafting the bill NOW

Conservative party (president's party) leader now making statement. Saying their party will do utmost to minimize the impact on Korea diplomatically and economically. Will do "what's necessary." Does not say anything specific, really a non-statement.

Extra update, Joint Chiefs of Staff (military) declared they have struck down martial law HQ and ordered all military to return to their original posts. MBC showing military walking away from National Assembly as aides cheer and clap them on (looks more grateful and relieved than mocking).

There are still plenty of people who remember 8.15 and the June Uprising and other instances where the Korean military was deployed against our own people—the sight of military at the National Assembly is shocking and re-traumatizing at the same time. Yoon has committed an UNFORGIVEABLE SIN.
