At 5 pm (3 hrs from now), the National Assembly votes for a special investigation into the first lady (long story), and then for impeachment right after. This was scheduled so any conservative party members walking out between votes can be caught on camera for the media—a "perp walk" if you will.

Bora Chung just messaged that it’s impossible to set foot on Yeoeuido Island (where the National Assembly is) right now, but I’m on my way and about to try. Wearing my new Hebron kufiya from Hirbawi that got delivered yesterday 🇵🇸 ✊🏼

Watching the MBC feed on the subway. They are voting on the first agenda item, on the prosecutorial task force to investigate the first lady. We shall see if conservative members leave the National Assembly after this vote and before the next agenda item: impeachment

Many empty seats visible. MBC reporting that the conservatives will leave the hall before the next vote. Reminder that 8 conservative votes are needed for impeachment.

Bill for prosecute first lady did not pass. Agenda item 2 (impeachment) now entering vote. All but one National Assembly member has left the chamber

Wow, just got back to subway station after 3 hrs in the protest It was cold and very crowded but good energy! There is NO DATA at the protest site and barely any SMS, which is why I couldn’t update When you come to NA, bring snacks—Gwanghwamun is less of a food desert

The impeachment vote is still going on—they’ve decided to extend. They need eight conservatives to vote. One stayed behind to do so and two more came back to cast their vote. So we need five more for impeachment. I imagine there is some vigorous behind-the-scenes politicking is going on, I imagine.

ok now that I have data I will get myself updated (funny how people at home will be more informed than people protesting on site) but for now here’s me singing along to that very infamous protest anthem “Into the New World” by that notoriously leftist commie kpop group Girls Generation

Doesn’t seem too much to update—the third conservative who voted probably voted against impeachment. Conservative members are apparently still in the building, having a meeting People are still holding out for possible defections
