Striving to be worse than JSTOR, it seems.

Nooooooooo

Sound like new business model through libraries

1925: The future is so bright. In 100 years we'll have flying cars, people living on the moon, an end to all diseases,... 2025: Well,... we have books that stop working if you don't keep paying for them...

Very, very bad. No one has asked for this!

Information only for those that can pay. That's kinda really, super, insanely fucked up?

A neo-liberal money grubbing exercise by the sound of it. I believe in open access to knowledge. Academic research produced largely out of public universities at NO cost to publishers should be free and globally available to all.

Can you explain more about what this means?

With due respect to libraries, it is the publishers that relied on income from Clarivate that will suffer the most. They just lost X% market share - could be devastating.

Your Library will pay us a steep subscription fee for our content but will not actually own anything. We will also spin off any title from our subscription package we can better monetize through a separate (additional) subscription...

@clarivate.com should not have called this "transformative"... and that's the least significant problem with this plan!

Transforming library budgets into pure industry profit. Yeah.... transformative

Seems like another way to charge for something that should be free. What makes AI better than just a plain search of an archive of free literature?

Corporate speak: "transformative" = exploitative.

Look at you! Slick way of making sure libraries loose funding!
