The dig at the Senator from Missouri about knowing Midwest sports teams was pretty savage. Gotta respect it.

Klobuchar has Schmitt dead to rights: "The game in fact was in Maryland. For a senator to have false information & imply, based on confusion about name of a team, that you were in another city & somehow involved that day in what was happening in Georgia & call you a 'dirtbag' deserves an apology"

Why wouldn't she just say that we all know who the actual dirtbag is in that scenario? Why are Dems incapable of playing on the same field as the GOP. Schmitt is standing by what he did and telling everyone he got Smith. What the fuck are the Dems doing? Americans are dumb, they don't get subtle.

The *committee chair* is from Iowa, the home of the team in question. You'd think he might have some problems with Schmitt, if he weren't preoccupied with the question of what party the state's governor might be in when (apparently not "if") he dies in office.

Just wish she’d said “his confusion” to further emphasize how entirely at fault Schmitt was. But that is a tiny nitpick on a superb own by Sen. Klobuchar.

Republicans don’t apologize. They’ll commit the same infraction when they’re sure you’re watching, just to show that they really don’t give a fuck about decency, honesty, or rule of law.

@aricohn.com does Smith have a legit chance for a defamation claim? 1. Reckless disregard for the truth. 2. False accusation of perjury in a public forum. 3. I sense some malice. Or is there something akin to litigation privilege here?

Thought it might be that. But he seemed to repeat the accusation of being at the Hawks game during several right wing shows that afternoon, even if he omitted the perjury accusation.
