Ossoff: "I absolutely believe that Mike Collins would have been among those standing in the schoolhouse door ... Here in Georgia, where we are so proud of our legacy as the cradle of civil rights, I'll be damned if I'm gonna let a man like Collins win this race and represent GA for the next 6 years"

Finally. Someone who ISN’T going to be a fucking milquetoast and talk about healing and norms and can’t we all just get along bullshit, but IS going to treat these motherfuckers exactly the way they need to be treated: like the scum that they are.

It works out in a state like GA, that has a significant amount of black voters. Most red states with vast majority white populations would erupt in anger over this lol

As a White 50 year old that grew up in Georgia, this isn’t a hard thing to believe. Hell, you’d be delusional not to believe it. There are some of the most proudly racist people you’d ever meet in this state. Great people too. People who will surprise you, but also a bunch of openly racist people.

Not acknowledged enough that opposition to integration was the mainstream conservative position in the South 60 years ago. It was the political belief of the majority of white people. Mike Collins and damn near every Republican in Georgia today would have fought for segregation.

Man it's good to hear someone say this plainly and unapologetically. This is the disgust and determination so many of us have felt for years now. It doesn't matter if it's hard or if there are days we feel like it's impossible. We have to push back against this bigotry with everything we have.

here's why dude is going to lose: he's a politician recognizing a moment and adjusting his rhetoric accordingly. it's not because he BELIEVES it. this is why bullshit liberal nonsense is misplaced in times like these.

i would say i'm happy to be wrong but it doesn't matter if i'm wrong, these people aren't here to fix anything. they're here to buttress the status quo.
