He’s dead wrong. He’s talking about the decades before the civil service was professionalized. But that happened in 1884. And my extensive reading of American history suggests that even before that date it wasn’t nearly as corrupt as the present.

Excerpt :"Why it matters: Obama's comments come as Democrats try to turn corruption into a midterm issue, particularly around President Trump's business dealings and personal profits." But corruption IS out of control. And Hungary was able to oust Orban by focusing on his corruption.

Obama measuring corruption by indictment counts is like grading a flood by how many buckets you own. Orban got ousted because Hungarians tied the theft to the ballot. The method relies on data, not impressions of institutional health.

Yeah...I've always known he's trash. Or in his own words, 'my policies are Reaganite Republican.' bsky.app/profile/azur...

💯 I love how these shitlibs are trying to pretend Obomba wasn't a war-criminal. He *expanded* the f*king wars, and you pretend like you cared about Brown people's lives before voting for him?? And if he fooled you once, why did you vote for him *again*?! www.msf.org/kunduz-hospi...

He’s talking about the spoils system which we abandoned in 1884 as a consequence of the Garfield assassination. His killer was a guy who was pissed he wasn't named ambassador to Paris.
