As previously reported we did not find any evidence Pretti’s gun fired. CBS News has also reported that a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) review for Congress of the shooting states that Pretti’s gun wasn’t fired and confirmed two agents fired their guns. www.cbsnews.com/news/two-fed...
The agent who appeared to initiate the altercation with Pretti, and fires the fifth shot, can also be seen in footage wearing a bodycam.

You can read Bellingcat’s initial analysis on the Alex Pretti shooting here: www.bellingcat.com/news/2026/01...
Immediately after the 2nd shot, the agent kneeling at the shooter’s left side extends both hands toward the gun, to stop the shooter from firing again. See 1:10-1:12. I strongly recommend slowing Playback Speed to 0.25 (in Settings). x.com/AFStreamWatc...
www.propublica.org/article/alex... The agents have allegedly been identified. Can bellingcat investigate the sources of this? I find it hard to trust this identification information if it came from DHS/DOJ sources.
