I worked for a company where we were not allowed to accept anything more than a baseball cap from our suppliers. It astonishes me that people who are supposed to be the leading ethics authorities in our country could be so self-serving and exercise such terrible judgment. 

They call these obvious bribes "tips" & "post-action gifts." It is still illegal to accept payment beforehand for quid pro quo agreements, but wait for your money & you can make all the quid pro quo agreements you want! Given what we're learning about "tips" paid to SC judges, are we surprised?

When I was working at a university, we were mandated to take ethics and fraud abatement courses yearly. We were encouraged to whistle blow on our fellow colleagues if we knew of these lapses. What I learned from my hallowed institution is everyone at the top was excused from these lapses.

Corruption is the cancer of enterprise, politics and the law. Unless it is treated or cut it, it will just continue to spread.
