I have a whole folder of ATProto apps on iOS (plus a select few directly on my Home Screen). Today we call them “ATproto” apps. In the future … they’re just a better way to build a wide range of apps, where users own their data, login in anywhere, and choose different interfaces.

Genuinely, I wish it was called something else, something a bit more... consumer-friendly? I always found "Nostr" quite friendly, despite the protocol being a minefield. It's (annoyingly) still nicer to say "Login with Bluesky" instead of "Login with ATProto".

I don’t think any of these things are consumer friendly by name or nature. IMAP???? There will need to be some concerted efforts at common login widgets and UX / design / branding.

It's more to the fact ATProto is supposed be at the forefront, and is ideally what we'd like people to refer to this as (instead of Bluesky), so a name like "ATProto" is a bit... clinical.
