one thing I feel Bluesky hasn’t taken advantage of is being able to build new forms of interaction
it’s twitter. It is. There’s nothing that would make me want to use it over twitter if I’d not already made that choice. No different ways to engage, nothing unique.
I think having a ton of different ways to post on this platform *could* be great both for users and for marketing. Mix in features Twitter nuked, conceptualize new ones, yoink and twist from non-microblogging platforms.
communities are coming to Bluesky this year.
today, Bluesky is one big space. communities will be smaller spaces inside that where you can go deeper and hang out with people who care about the same stuff.
I’m also interested in seeing the pie grow even more and shipping small, new content types more frequently would be *really* nice for increasing differentiation + getting more people who aren’t interested or who are on the fence to try it out.
The startup I worked at years ago tried to do a communities feature. Having spent a fair bit of time trying to design that product I think it is a great fit for bluesky. The blending of experiences between public and semi-private is missing in the text based social media afaik.
