This sucks dude. Labeling a whole account for several weeks effectively feels like punishment for "posting out of line"

Bluesky says this label will leave in 22 days, so this seems like a punishment for some undisclosed bad behavior.

That's been a thing for a while. (most of the ones I see in the wild are account labels) 2 of the most recent 200 "rude" labels applied were on accounts, the rest were on posts.

In the speed of the moment Humans will always post inappropriate content. If the community as a whole finds that content objectionable can’t we just block them for a few days from anyone that is not already following them? And anyone offended that is already following can block them on their own.

They nuked my account, never sent me any email as to what my supposed offense was, never responded to appeals and to the best of my knowledge the account is gone forever now. The moderation on this site is poor at the best of times to say the least.

I looked at the account OP was referring to and the “adult content” was tamer than a Sports Illustrared swimsuit cover. Kind of insane level of punishment for this

Because it reduces discovery. It adds extra layers preventing people from accessing or even seeing an account. It's entirely different from content labels, because you can still at least see the account and some context before you click on a labelled image or text.
