Saudi Arabia, Houthis at war, and thousands displaced and dying. Thousands dying in Ukraine/Russia war. But the media seems to focus only on the deaths in Gaza. Why is that? The world media fuels antisemitism, and people just go along with what they read. Israel is under bombs for years.

Antisemitism is a genuine threat to American Jews AND it's on the rise (though nowhere near the level that my parents grew up with). However, it's a mistake to call it systemic. A 🧵: bsky.app/profile/eita...

This is a misunderstanding of the word "systemic" when it is used to describe racism and other types of prejudice. Antisemitism isn't cooked into our societal systems - government, business - the way that anti-Black racism still is. The threats we face in the US are from OUTSIDE the system. 🧵

I don’t know who you are, but I clicked your profile and the first thing I saw was genocide denial. So I don’t really have any interest in debating this with you

IDK - did you read the actual thread or just the first post? In any case, I'm comfortable saying that IDF actions in Gaza encompass both war crimes and crimes against humanity. I'm just not CERTAIN that it's a genocide after reading a number of the available arguments. It's how I process info.

"How the fuck is it not systemic" Systemic to me is a determination that has to be made in the aggregate. There is antisemtism present here and there in the system. However, I'm comfortable arguing that it's below the threshold at which it becomes systemic. It WAS systemic in the US until the 70s

I just find the whole discourse baffling. It's like, do people know what the Great Replacement Theory even is, really? Do they know who runs the government right now and what those people believe? You can argue about gradations of who experiences impacts, obviously, but "not systemic" is just weird.

I am...genuinely kinda confused about the last part, because I am Jewish and I understand antisemitism to be real, dangerous, and on the rise, and also not (currently) systemic. Like, it's very real, and it is encouraged by politicians in some of the highest positions of power, but it doesn't

operate through systems like housing, healthcare, jobs, police, etc. American Jews aren't being discriminated against in the workplace, or being denied the chance to buy a house, or facing police harassment and violence in our neighborhoods, or getting subpar medical care, or being

disproportionately criminalized and incarcerated, or having polluting industries built in our neighborhoods, or any of the other things that I understand systemic oppression to be. So to me it seems pretty clear that antisemitism isn't systemic right now (although it was before light-skinned Jews

assimilated into whiteness less than a century ago), and I am just...kinda baffled that this thing that seems obvious to me is Nazi propaganda??
