One of my favorite things about Bluesky (or at least my little corner of it) is that people are always sharing resources for taking action. So here's a pinned thread collecting those resources, some made by me and some made by others.

The real unfair competition women are being forced into with men is having women's sports constantly separated off as a distinct event which is made to compete commercially with much better funded and socially and institutionally enfranchised men's sporting events & found inadequate by that standard

Netanyahu is not the problem. If he’s out of power, Israel will still oppress Palestinians. They don’t magically go back to some good-guy “self defense” situation. That’s always been a myth

The only reason I can think of for this news not being absolutely everywhere is that large media orgs don’t want to be seen as putting their thumbs on the scales a week before election day. And that’s cowardly as shit.

Speaking of Hannah Moushabeck's work, I'm really looking forward to her forthcoming children's book, When Palestine Is Free, which imagines a future where Palestinians can be free and safe in their homeland: www.instagram.com/p/DVTEW7Lk-0_/

I think people are misinterpreting the Erika Hilton reducing the work week in Brazil to 5 days story because I think a lot of the story here is about why the PT didn't do this in any of the SEVENTEEN YEARS they were in one form or another in power until Erika Hilton, Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

So I'm not saying these books were the main reason I grew up to be a leftist, but they definitely didn't hurt.

Ever since I read Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs as a kid, I've had a lifelong dream that one day school (or work) would be canceled due to Giant Pancake.

I also found Hannah Moushabeck's essay about trying to become a parents as a queer couple during the genocide in Gaza really powerful, and S.'s essay about her experience of both queerness and Palestinian-ness as ghareeb - an Arabic word describing separation from one's home and oneself.

One of the pieces that most resonated with me was Eman Abdelhadi's short story imagining a liberated, post-capitalist Palestine in the 2030s. It's so important to have fiction that imagines the world we're fighting for!

100% all of this: "We need ways of being and acting in the world that do not rely on the benevolence of a ruler who leaves office in four years, or on institutions so powerful and centralized that we cannot exert leverage upon them."

Elections always narrow the public imagination so much, even among many leftists. I highly recommend @cbmilstein.bsky.social's collab zine, Our Dreams Don't Fit in Ballot Boxes, for examples of helping people break free from a narrow focus on electoral politics and dare to dream bigger.

This is why it's so important to listen to organizers on the ground in any given place before jumping to conclusions about what's happening there. That said, it's not always easy to find voices from movements in other countries, especially now that we've effectively lost Twitter/X,

dawg these politicians gotta stop talking about the students, who they never support real convenient for US Dems to frame the election as a "student victory against authoritarianism" while ignoring what they did to their own student protest movement in 2024

This is actually most of the work. Mutual aid is community self-defence. Fundraising for a bail fund is community self-defense. etc
