it is funny too, as someone who like, writes very much how I speak anyway -- I hope that my writing actually comes out clearer to read than how this reads back to me maybe I've just been writing nonsense this whole time and it only ever read back to my specific brain as okay

probably! I don't want to definitively say there are zero, I just suspect most motor designs / bike companies would prefer freewheeling hubs vs that ability if given the choice, and so we've evolved out this way
