It does this because it uses this for media storage (e.g. /media command). Could make it optional or I might just be ignorant of a better way?

a sasl cert per irc provider is far less centralized than this though, surely you see this as soon as you take a breath

well there’s two options right now right: either plc or domains. The problem is neither is particularly good, plc is tofu, domains are impermanent. crypto is better but if the bootstrap is arbitrary or tofu they don’t help much - bottoms out in the same problem as nostr

I am much more curious about the e2ee stuff you’re doing. I had a realization recently about how easily I could add mls and mimi to my ircv3 stack. Have you thought about that kind of federation at the e2e much?

What do you think is the best way to do it? I enabled things like cross-posting with Bluesky + media uploads to the repo for e.g. dragging images into a channel.

I'm not an AT Proto expert, but something like this would seem good at least: bsky.app/profile/iame... I like how Android apps can request extra permissions on the fly when they need them, I wonder if that's doable on atproto without too much effort?

Yeah we’ve considered putting in an optional checkbox for the Bluesky permissions there — we need that stuff to make Bluesky posts on your behalf if you’re livestreaming but somebody just chatting doesn’t necessarily need it

are you currently accepting any active contributions, particularly in the area of multi-platform support? would be nice if I can live here with atproto oauth on mobile.

awesome! let me go through the freeq-{ios, android} codebase this weekend and get some details. I usually prefer expo/eas for I don’t have a mac, but I think this project is definitely worth learning something new!
