A dry Christmas tree can burn faster than newspaper. * *Before the internet, you were able to receive a collection of news articles printed on paper. These papers were delivered to your door either by professionals or kids on bikes struggling to balance while carrying the Sunday edition.

*Monday was the best paper because it was basically ten pages long and weighed less than a AA battery. The papers got heavier every day after that. By Sunday you were essentially biking around a car battery in 28-degree weather on a rural road with no streetlights allegedly building character.

*All that to say during the holidays some people would leave you extra cash and small gifts sometimes with personalized notes saying thanks. It might not have made up for the falls, and walks through cobwebs, and sweatshirts covered in ink, but it did make you feel appreciated in the neighborhood.
