Needed this so much right now. I just called out the fact that Kendrick Lamar carried that red, white, and blue theme through. He owned it! My fam knew what that meant. THEY don’t want us here, but they do not own the flag. “Not Like Us”

I'm an old white woman with no interest in sports nor the Super Bowl. But had to watch the half time show to check out the controversy. I was blown away, and this performance was amazing. Kendrick Lamar is the American hero we need right now.

I live in the UK, I finally watched Kendrick Lamar's half time show, it was amazing. February is Black History Month. DEI is the new 'n" word in MAGA circles and a black Uncle Sam and a black Captain America is apt as South mern States of America were largely built on slavery. Excellent work y'all

I wish I could understand his words! My kids love him. But Rap to me has gone to shit since Public Enemy left the scent, the death of Tupac, and the break up of Outkast. I just like singles I guess. Eminem and a bunch of anti-Trumpers need to be ON IT NOW!

Conservatives didn't take the flag away from me & CAN'T take it from me. My ancestors built this country with blood, sweat and tears. We were here generations before the magafolk whose families "immigrated legally" just by stepping onto Ellis Island. Rcons don't define me, or what matters to me.

Tramp just said it was the worst half-time show he's ever seen..."Ken Drake is overrated, untalented & I hardly know who he is. Next year Lara will headline the show & maybe we'll invite the Village People, the Cowboy, the Cop, Plumber Guy, Leather Guy, The Indian and me, your favorite, the Moron".

Thank you for spelling it out for those of us in the back of the room. I honesty didn’t get it, truly. And was really trying to. You explained it better than anyone else on social media. ❤️🇺🇸

Did you only watch the Not Like Us portion of the show? I am not trying to be an ass. There were a lot of digs at Trump. If you didn't catch the symbolism I don't know what to tell you. I'm blind and I saw it. Watch the beginning and tell me it isn't directed at him

I think it's worth a rewatch. One thing to look out for is Kendrick in the middle of a flag being split in half made of Black men. Listen to the tone of the opening statement. If he wen off on Trump it would of been cut to commercial, his mic would be cut at the stadium. It was done symbolically.

You know it's coming. It will be a Christian religious praise Jesus choir. And they'll bring out Trump and Musk on golden thrones. Please someone, keep this post for when it comes true 👍

Admittedly not my genre at all, and only managed to pick up a handful of lyrics, but definitely (I think?) got an anti-authoritarian vibe. 😁Would love to see a more complete & better informed review. But definitely impressed!

I’m a 60 yo white woman that doesn’t follow much rap music, so can someone translate it all for me? Sounds like Lamar sent quite the message - who was it directed toward? Just want to learn so hopefully people won’t take this wrong.

This 53yo white lady in Alabama did NOT VOTE for that scumbag! In fact, I cried from pride after I voted Harris/Walz. I think we all benefit from a DIVERSE America. I see us as the HUMAN RACE and we are one. We will defeat these evil sacks of skin!!!

Admittedly, I didn’t get it at first, I saw and was fixated on the incredible dancers, I caught the red, right, and blue, but there was so much going on. Once I had time to process, what a fantastically huge F*ck off, Mr. Not-my-President.

That's one of the thousand sad things. MAGAs who are totally un-American have taken over the flag to the point i don't want one anymore. They don't own it and they don't believe in what it stands for!

🥳🥳✨️💯✊🏾💯👣👣🏆 1825 to 2025 has been a rough ride in the infancy of this nation, as it grows while flourishing in acceptance with inclusion of EVERYONE to be better every step on the way to getting great.

I couldn’t understand what he was saying, not a word, but I thought the scattering, or breaking up of the American flag might be saying something.

Literally the BEST half time performance for this time...I am sure those US Fascist Nazis were sitting in their stadium box seats seething like Hitler did when Jesse Owens kicked German ass at the Olympics

That half-time show was powerful, intense, and beautiful! Lamar, Sza... multi grammy winners...Serena...20 + grand slam championships... talented dancers that have spent years training... and Academy/Bafta, etc... award winner Sam Jackson... damn... these people are what MF'er Trump calls DEI hires.

My beautiful grandson loves this song! He danced all the way through the performance! "Hey Grammy!" Yes Royal? "Do you think that everyone will know how great we are now?" 💯 My young King! 👑

When he said " you picked the right time and the wrong man", I thought THIS is gonna be fun! Assholes thought they had a win when 'racism' was removed from the end zone.

When he said, " the revolution will be televised..." referencing Gil Scott-Heron, I immediately thought, he ( or someone) has got to do a version of " Whitey on Mars"--cheers to the dancer who unfurled the Gaza & Sudan sign and was pulled off the stage!

When I reintergrated northern Georgia, I put a tiny black Uncle Sam in my yard. Then I hung the American flag which generations of my military family have died for. The flag belongs to us and they can't have it. Take back the red, white and blue. It belongs to us, sharp end of the flagpole included

I don't want it back! I don't want those colors, those stripes, or those stars! I don't want to hang it upside down! It is 💀 to me! That flag represents racism, bigotry, fascism, Xian nationalism, xenophobia, imperialism, colonization, & white supremacy! They can have it! My flag is now all black!

For the old, white folk in the back like me that needed some help with interpreting #KendrickLamar’s #halftime performance last night, I got some help from a 30 something. Brilliant! 🤯

I’m not sure. My son sent it to me this morning and he’s rarely on FB. My guess is IG. He’s on travel right now. If you check with me on Saturday, I’ll ask when he returns.

This song “Flew” over so many heads, he’s a “lyrical” genius, yet so many just “Don’t get it”…the Story behind it is even more intriguing, starting as a “War of Words” between 3 Rappers, yet THIS SONG, encapsulated the American History of the “Black” Man’s Struggle in Society, what “White” Men Erase

Check online and you’ll see how the media treated her. If you’ve followed Serena’s career at all, you’ll know that she’s been disrespected constantly. She’s the GOAT but isn’t given the credit she deserves. 2/2

100% agree! I actually missed her appearance last night and had to go back and rewatch. There were so many symbols to process. Thank you for contributing to the conversation. Much appreciated!

The Drake diss track wasn’t even about Drake, not last night. It was about those in the audience and watching at home. Serena’s cameo was a nod to how she was mistreated back in 2012 after dancing after her win at Wimbledon. 1/2

Yes. I realized that AFTER reading and learning more today. There was so much more. Best SB performance/STATEMENT and so needed. As he said, “they picked the wrong guy.”

Help me out. I could tell by the set design there was American/anti-FOTUS symbolism. I know a little about the Drake diss. I think tonight was about the state of our country. The state of anyone who is not white. Maybe I’m projecting. I need an analysis & wish I was still teaching HS media lit.

Full disclosure: I'm not a rap fan in general. But talent is talent & I thought this was a great performance. Production, choreography etc. I love SZA so she elevated the whole thing for me. Also loved SLJ as Uncle Sam. My favorite halftime show is still Prince.

I LOVED it. I'm fairly certain all the Super Bowl entertainment pissed off Trump, Apartheid Clyde, and the MAGA base. I've already seen the MAGA posts denigrating the amazing performers we watched before the game and during halftime.

I’m not a fan of Kendrick Lamar’s music; it’s just not my thing. But this show was awesome! Well staged, well choreographed, well performed, visually stunning, and poignant. The right wing having an issue with it is just plain racist.

I loved every second of that performance! It’s a shame that these people use their blatant privilege and bigotry to not be able to see the ART that just occurred on that field!
