I had to run for my life from a wildfire when I lived in Colorado. It was the most terrifying experience I've ever gone through. I kept thinking, This must be like being in war, when danger is all around. (And I've been engaging Republican voters on progressive issues, in person, for many years.)

I'm about 90km north east of Bordeaux, and I'm in the house wearing a mask, even with all the windows closed. God knows what it must be like nearer the fire itself.
