404 Media has been on the decline for a hot minute, but quote dunking on a random trans woman who isn’t a public figure and fueling a wave of harassment against her is perhaps a new low for them!

“Should people preemptively block 404 Media for their own safety” is definitely the kind of question that one wants associated with their media brand, great work.

It’s, unfortunately, critical to their business model. They haven’t seemed to find a way to stay profitable without the culture war engagement grifting, which unfortunately is a phenomenon affecting most media outlets these days. Not really sure where we go from here. :/

They've always been dishonest. They were so proud of only having passwordless logins via email links as "see how we're protecting your security!" when I'm 99% certain they just wanted to put up a barrier to account/login sharing.

The context is below if you missed it. This is the latest incident in which a trans person who works in the AI space & isn’t a public figure gets dog piled by large accounts… in addition to all the really hateful comments, there’s rampant misgendering & disregard for their transness from “allies”.

This is pathetic, delete your post and have some internal conversation about your conduct here, this is not okay.

Side note: 404 Media has some of the most overtly biased and prejudiced reporting in the business. So many articles come out of that rag that display a total disregard for journalistic integrity, it’s turning into a culture war fueled engagement grifting tabloid.

I foolishly clicked the link trying to figure out how it was even relevant and it's basically an opinion piece riffing off of Twitter posts - one of the lowest forms of clickbait "journalism" around. So disappointing because we need good, skeptical tech reporting.
