The sheer amount of time, money, and resources this government has spent to torture one random guy is astounding.

JUST IN: On X, DHS says that Kilmar Abrego Garcia “will be processed for removal to Uganda.”

You’re looking at it wrong. The time, money and resources have been spent pandering to the racist Republican base. This is the promise Republicans make to their voters and they always deliver. The ultra rich get the corporate welfare and tax cuts. Everyone else gets the racism and culture wars.

It is a crime against humanity a human rights violation they have no business to send them to Uganda he has no citizenship or connection to Uganda he has an American family this is cool and unusual punishment violates the 8th Amendment as well as the rest of the Bill of Rights.

The ultimate in punching down, bringing the entire weight of the federal government (going way beyond!) to bear on one random man, with no way to make it stop. A howling, screaming, grievous injustice.

Real governance is hard, and this administration needs to distract from their own crimes, so they're wasting our money and torturing immigrants while our own economy and infrastructure suffers. Are we cool with that?

Ditto!

The orange demagogue has found his final solution to immigration & trade by making America a 💩🕳️ country! Burner phones, wiped socials: the extreme precautions for visitors to T*u*p’s America. Horror stories about detainments at the border have also soured some from visiting during Trump’s 2nd term:

This is obviously a distraction tactic against the Epstein file release, causing the extreme focus on one individual, to the extent of fabricating "charges" against him. There are CRIMINALS in the country who ACTUALLY NEED to be apprehended and deported, but that takes a CONSTITUTIONAL legal system.

How is it Constitutional to demand a man plead guilty to horrible crimes or be sent to a place that is dangerous and likely to just send him back to El Salvador against US Judicial rulings? I have NEVER been more ashamed of the USA in my 6 decades here.

I will never give up, and will always call for lawsuits and protests but I also no longer think Trump has any limits on what he thinks he can do.

He doesn't. A perfect candidate for a dictator - vain, corrupt, deranged, arrogant and without a dose of empathy. It is still shocking how quickly USA is following the authoritarian manual and even exceeded it - occupying your own capital is something which doesn't happen.

Yep. He embarrassed them. They swore up and down that they would never allow him back in this country, and that even if they wanted to allow it, it would be impossible to do. We see how that turned out.

The lesson we have to take from this: We have to remove Trump and all the authoritarian heels who have attached to him from power, and be vigilant about keeping them out permanently. The lesson they want us to take from it: be afraid of ever crossing them. We have to refuse to be intimidated.

In the Great Reckoning that - in my dreams - follows this era, I think justice demands that the architects of these atrocities be renditioned to random shithole countries. For Stephen Miller, I'm thinking Somalia, but maybe others have a better idea.

They have to deport Mr. Garcia. He has become a symbol of hope to other immigrants - he's assuaging their fears. If he were to win and be allowed to stay in the US, other immigrants would follow suit (which they should do, regardless). He's a threat to this regime.

Are you fucking kidding me? This is why I can’t stand opening my phone. It would be different if you knew there was some way of preventing these atrocities from happening but it just leaves you to sit with fury. Damn this is just disgusting. ✊🇨🇦

Kilmar’s arrest is ethnic cleansing in a suit & tie. They spit on the law outright. This regime has weaponized bureaucracy into a deportation death machine, targeting dissenters and brown bodies with Nazi precision. Call it what it is: fascist cleansing, dressed up as immigration policy.

Not until you get a court order! Are we skipping due process again? Fuck Pam Bondi, Kristy Noem, Tom Hardman, and every ICE Gestapo Agent involved in this travesty of justice! The time will come when it's you on the docket and even though you don't deserve it, you'll get due process.

Part of how they operate: make examples of how far they'd go to get one person, so people see, they could do that to anyone. Attempts to use fear to suppress resistance.

All of this is an affront to the First Amendment. The fact that someone in the government can get a bug up their ass over one person and spend all this time and effort to make their life a living hell is chilling.
