Square Enix is releasing so much new FFIX art prior to its birthday, it's unbearable for fans who wait for a remake. But it's also SO SO good. Toshiyuki Itahana is amazing.

Meanwhile, "Not Alone" lives rent-free in my head. I'm obsessed with this song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXlE... So was the conductor, he's feeling it at around 3:25

This is also one of the songs where I think that Uematsu's Morricone influence shines brightest. You can play this to the "Ectasy of Gold" scene, and it works beat for beat. And yes, of course I tried it!

FF VII, VIII and IX are still some of the highest heights of game scores to date in my book, and this is a great example of why.

Absolutely! The amazing thing about Uematsu is that for every score, you have the feeling that this is his absolute best. I find myself humming random tunes from any of the first 10 games. Take "The Rebel Army" from Final Fantasy II as an example www.youtube.com/watch?v=EE9S...
