I have a friend who will occasionally say something like "All this work we're doing is in the computer. When you close the computer, it's no longer there. I try to remember that perspective and prioritize things outside of the computer."

I keep telling the early-career folks I mentor: every line of code, every product plan, every presentation, every design document, all of the artifacts from the entire first 10 or maybe even _twenty_ years of my career? it's all gone. Deleted, or lost, or whatever. And yours will be too.

Or maybe some of it's still around? It doesn't matter. Because it's all disposable if you work in the industry as it stands today. So you have to know what matters to you and what will persist, and who you are and what you care about.
