After various federal courts blocked orders from Trump, House Speaker Mike Johnson said this morning that "Congress is going to act" and threatened that Congress has the power to eliminate courts and judicial funding.

The groundwork is being laid for a regime where law serves power, not the people. A full-system realignment. With courts, military, & enforcement bent to political will, democratic resistance becomes nearly impossible through legal or peaceful means. Once built, it's extremely difficult to dismantle

Our democracy is under siege! Most Americans don’t grasp the gravity of our moment. They don’t see the fall of democracy as a real threat. It’s something foreign and the idea of the U.S. collapsing into authoritarianism seems unthinkable. bsky.app/profile/tele...

We’re here now! Our democracy has been eroding before our eyes, and most barely notice. "The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands... may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny." - James Madison

Essentially “We control the Judicial branch and will control it to meet the Executive branches desires, we (congress) have already ceded our authority to Trump.” If that’s not terrifying, you do not believe in the government we have lived by for the past 248 years.

Did Mike miss the part of the Civics 101 lecture about it being part of the JOB of the federal courts to determine whether executive actions comply with the Constitution and applicable laws? Deciding the answer is "no" doesn't make a judge an "activist."

And fact that DT was elected doesn't mean he has been given authority to do whatever the hell he wants. The American people can't authorize unlawful actions by voting for someone who promises to do unlawful things. So what's with the "This was what America voted for, so stay out of it" crap?

Been a while since I took the most basic of history courses, but wasn’t Marbury vs Madison literally about the refusal to recognize and fund federal courts? Do I have that wrong, or is Johnson essentially threatening to relitigate the foundational issue of constitutional law in America?

Umm, he can’t even wrangle his own party - who hold the majority of seats - to agree on and pass any funding bills. I’d love to see him try to get them to eliminate the courts. 🍿

"The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour, and shall, at stated Times, receive for their Services, a Compensation, which shall not be diminished during their Continuance in Office."

He thinks that because he didn’t put his hand on the Bible at inauguration , it’s just like crossing your fingers behind your back . But you have to wonder would a real Christian refuse the Bible that way?

Isn't it funny how the magas held Dems to the tiniest little infraction yet they're blowing up our country and not giving it a second thought. They don't care if they share military secrets on an unsecured line, remove our judicial system or eliminate Social Security. They are the scum of the Earth.

Question is: what are we doing the next election cycle (mid terms) to stop this? Do we believe that people that support this direct assault on our constitution outnumber the ones that see this power grab for what it is? We need to outnumber these goons and their followers.

We need to make our voices and news resonate much louder to overpower theirs as it is clearly their objective to over saturate the news with their lies. Keep the pressure up and spread the articles that outright shed a light on their lies, negligence, failures, and assault on our freedom.

So what I am hearing is that the GOP will take over the courts and is willing to end democracy. What happened to the party which always touted that it was the party that followed the rule of law? That party no longer exists.

The entirety of the US government is just making up rules at this point. Which I guess is their job in an ironic twist 😭 But I didn't realize that included elevating each branch above the other

With all this dismantling of the US government then we taxpayers no longer have an obligation to file or to pay taxes. Our obligation is to the US government and it is ceasing to exist. Besides who at the IRS is left to do anything?

Congress does not have the power to eliminate the judicial system. They are a co-equal branch of the government. It’s as stupid as saying the courts can eliminate representation of voters in states by eliminating all congressional positions in the states.

Protest has never been more important. Take to the streets April 5th. Participate locally, regionally or nationally. Look up 50501 for info. Stop spending now. Shop local if you must. Main Street not Wall Street!

Fuck Johnson, he is a little worm that is trying to do anything he can to aid Trump's corruption by threatening to impeach or withdraw funds to any judge that refuses to bend to corruption, extorsion, blackmail or outright illegality. Johnson needs to be impeached and charged for his criminal deeds

Little Mikey is extremely upset that the Courts are not as spineless at Republicans and have the audacity to honor their oaths and uphold the Constitution. They are gobsmacked, absolutely gobsmacked that someone actually has a spine and a loyalty to their country.
