β€œNo agency on Earth could fail eight audits and still get a $1.5 trillion check, except the Pentagon.” Think Trump’s $1.5 trillion Pentagon budget request is outrageous? This'll blow your mind.

But I think it's a mistake to use that to conclude they're crazy, delusional, or just engaged in hype to make money. As in climate, there is evidence in the world to assess and there is a ton of mounting real-world evidence that this is a technology that is getting much more powerful and dangerous.

I find the ideological hothouse around AI - rationalism, effective altrusim - super weird and alienating. I don't share the worldview of most of the people, and obviously almost everyone involved in the entire debate has enormous financial stakes in the outcomes.

One of the stubborn dynamics in climate politics is conservatives being simply unwilling to believe that their ideological opponents were/are right about something very important. Lots of conservatives really did covince themselves it was all a conspiracy to impose more government control.

When we presented our findings to child safety experts, they were shocked that we were persistently finding NCMEC images.
