BREAKING: In a loss for Democrats, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled the congressional map voters approved last month to counter GOP gerrymanders cannot go into effect. The decision overturns the will of voters for technical reasons and gives Republicans a leg up for the 2026 midterms.

The decision marks a significant and terrifying moment in our democracy as the court allowed an election to be cancelled after its completion.

Go back to the drawing board and take the last GOP seat out. Then force it through and impeach four judges on that court.

What model is that? Ohio is gerrymander to hell and fucking back. Most of the states population is completely governed by a small minority.

As a black women, I have lost hope. SCOTUS has spoken and that’s all republicans needed. First they came for immigrants. Now they’ve silenced POC. Next will be women. The heritage foundation and the federalist society have been planning this for a very long time. 🤦🏽‍♀️

I feel you…. and I’m out here pleading and educating people about the importance of voting with responses of “why should I vote when they’re going to do whatever they want in the end”. They have a point.

Serious Question @marcelias.bsky.social: Since SCOTUS6 deemed gerrymandering "legal," why can't VA Dems appeal, stating VA Supreme Court needs to adhere to SCOTUS? Anything to balance the gerrymandering. I can't even believe SCOTUS6 could agree to non-Census year gerrymandering that started in TX.

So 47% of Virginians can't be represented by 9% of representatives, but 35% of Tennessee/Louisiana/Alabama etc can be represented by 0%? What the hell is going on in this country? Democracy needs to be perfect everywhere, but fascism gets exceptions to every rule?
