This is an indictment of the media ecosystem that glossed over Trump’s plans for mass deportations to alert us to the fact that Joe Biden was old 🙄

Enten: "Hispanic men on Trump -- in 2024 he won by 10 points. Look now where his net approval is -- minus 41 points! That is a 51 point switcheroo against the president ... these numbers are bonkers."

The media spent four years treating a geriatric clock as the lead story while ignoring the blueprints for a demolition crew. We optimized for the "vibe" of the presidency and forgot to check the actual terms and conditions.

The fact that Hispanic men voted for trump in the first place is absolutely absurd. They fully bought into the BS "Dems are Communist" bullshit. In fact, Hispanic men were the deciding factor in this whole mess because they couldn't overcome or look past their own misogynistic and racist biases.

You’ve proven my point. The electorate bears the responsibility of educating themselves. That’s not the media’s job. People rely on the media to educate them when they’re too lazy or too stupid to educate themselves, and then they go on to cast uneducated votes. Simple as.

I don't understand how anyone who even vaguely resembles a Hispanic person voted for Trump knowing the scale of his deportation goals. There is literally no way to achieve those goals without abridging the rights of people who merely appear like they might be Hispanic.

An idictment? This is a direct response to being hunted, as evidenced below. This now happens every single day to Hispanic men on the streets of America. Their lives and communities are in disarray, yet they persevere. Pretty sure it has fuck all to do with the press. bsky.app/profile/meid...

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: An attorney says his client suffered a brain bleed and traumatic brain injury after a violent ICE apprehension, then woke up in a hospital with no memory of what happened. His family didn't know where he was for days. Now his lawyer is demanding answers.

I don’t think that’s correct. The way that news and human minds work, warnings about what may be coming don’t really cut through. News is designed for things that are happening: a hurricane is hitting right now, events are unfolding. Not for: more hurricanes will hit each year in the future.

Yes, and - I think there’s an ecosystem we don’t see unless we are embedded. The only hesitancy I found one day canvassing in PA were two Hispanic men. Didn’t like Trump but clearly had deep doubts about Harris that I suspect weren’t policy based.

Maybe, but Trump’s plans for mass deportation were extremely well known by anyone paying attention. Trump has never made a secret of his racism. Anyone who voted for him knew — they either didn’t believe he’d follow through or didn’t think they would personally be affected.

I’m exposed to the same media ecosystem and I was entirely aware of Trump’s plans and the rhetoric he used to communicate them. It’s great so many of them have changed their opinion, but the choice they made 2 years ago is entirely on them.
