Dan is pivoting away from Farcaster and Stani is pivoting away from Lens. I am 100% certain they are both due in part to seeing how well Bluesky has grown and the ecosystem forming around #ATProto. The first wave of #SocialFi failed because of the emphasis of Fi over Social.

Their conception of finance is built around an ahistorical mythology of money, and not anthropological evidence. It was always doomed to fail, and the only thing keeping decentralized finance alive the past decade has been endless grifting.

ATProto is THE platform for the second wave of SocialFi. Bluesky got a layup for not being Twitter. Now the other competitors are clearing out. While I'm not saying all you gotta do is 'tap it in', it's clear there is enough momentum here that it has scared the shit out of the entire field.

More than social. I would say “collaborative”. Think about Spaces. Anything where you need to do things with people, whether it is a chat app or writing a doc or even using AI in multiplayer — I think atproto is where you can start. It is not just community protocol, but the collaboration protocol.

lol, I'd say watching Bluesky also bleed users played a bigger role in Dan selling than fear of its growth
