To be fair, Spielberg didn't make the Special Edition of E.T. the only way (or even predominant way) to watch that movie.

Can we not use that particular word to describe a guy who's really just an asshole with an ideology? I know plenty of people with psychosis, and none of them are brand-obsessed capitalist weirdos.

Being an evil billionaire and being a nice guy is actually how most evil billionaires stay under the radar.

I will say that the film Hammond seemed to lurch wildly from a whimsical grandfather who only wanted to share the joy of his creations to ruthless capitalist who would knife grandma for the inheritance but learning more about Walt Disney and Stan Lee proved those aren't necessarily contradictory

As visually awesome as the film is, I still like the book storyline better. Gennaro as a character who is supposed to be the first one to object and shut things down but is too cowardly to actually do dirty work was a much better character than "happy capitalist lawyer joke eaten by T. Rex."

Thank you for this - I hated the plot of the film so much once I read the book.
