It's safe to say that anyone who sees empathy as a human weakness is not, by my definition, human. Seeing your own essence in other people is what makes us human. It connects us. It is the opposite of weakness. It is everything. This is why I've spent my life focused on art.

About a month ago, I saw online a deacon tell his congregation to "guard against the sin of empathy." As a Christian I can't think of anything more antithetical to the teachings of Jesus and the more I thought about it, the more I realized it is an evil statement as well.
