Amazon just sued one of the largest power companies in Oregon after it failed to power up two data center (one without enough power and one with no power at all) campuses that were meant to be ready *in 2021*. Sure hope this isn't an industry wide problem! www.datacenterdynamics.com/en/news/amaz...

The ones that are sat unpowered in Santa Clara are *48MW projects*. How, exactly, are we going to get the 200, 500 or 1.4GW ones up and running? I don't think this is a regulatory issue!

If they are going to need that much power, they should build the infrastructure for it themselves. Expecting the local utility companies to just spin that shit up for them is just crazy.

1GW is the size of av nuclear power unit, the two Vogtle units cost $35B, not including transmission. I don’t see house any power company could keep up even if they built the data centers right next to the power plant.

It would be kind of funny if the ai bubble pops because a little factory in the north of Italy can’t make the forgings for an important bit of power infrastructure fast enough
