i am once again begging windows users to understand that linux nerds give you instructions in the form of terminal commands because "paste this in" is a million times faster than trying to lead you through the gui one button at a time, not because the gui doesn't exist

i liken using the command line to going to a restaurant and telling the server what you'd like to eat, in their own language, and using the GUI as pointing at the food on the menu.

Oh, for sure, and even if you do, it can sometimes be easier to point rather than translate in your head and speak. But other times, saying "can I get that without pickles, and with the sauce on the side?" is easier than trying to pantomime the same.
