“It’s not ... just body cameras, just drones, just license plate readers, just fixed surveillance cameras - it’s all of these things are being integrated, and the analysis that can be done on these cameras is pretty extensive,” EFF's Beryl Lipton told @48hills.bsky.social.

Not forgetting that they can now use individual WiFi as radar and track you in your home. They don't seem to mention that 🙄

Evidently the cameras on school buses are now also being added to the network. We need to remove all cameras on public property. We need to remove all camera networking. We need to enforce our right to privacy.

I remember when the spy satellites were rumored to be able to read a car's license plates form orbit. It caused a lot of hoopla. So we got conditioned by television shows that depicted the systems now being installed would help solve crimes. "With great power comes great responsibility" -Stan Lee

Winter prep tip: In Minnesota, we use spray cans of under coating to prevent ice from causing damage. Don't get it get on glass or glass lenses as it blackens them and is difficult to remove. Careful spraying as it can shoot 10 feet. As always, wear a mask 😷, glasses 😎, and gloves. Safety first.

Also cameras in your cars, computers, public spaces, airports etc, all linked to trace every little bit of your actions and sell it off to the highest bidder with absolute zero privacy left. It is already here.

The poor quality of the flock system feels like it might have been a sacrificial first iteration. A bit like how governments fire ministers to show they are listening but also use it like a settlement to avoid further scrutiny, meanwhile the policy rolls on. building on this now solidified platform

Big investors will often have stakes in a bunch of companies doing a specific tech. They the. Use the privileged information they get from each company to decide which wins. You think you are the first to market but actually you are just infantry being fed to the grinder.

I hate flock cameras. The idea of the government being able to surveil all of us feels very… Russian. On the other hand, they used flock cameras to solve the murder of a 16 year old girl in my city. They’re going to use the one time flock cameras were used correctly to justify keeping them.

And you definitely don't want to use a high-powered 532nm green laser, because it can permanently burn and disable digital camera CMOS or CCD sensors. Green light is absorbed at a very high efficiency by these electronic sensors, meaning concentrated beams easily melt or overload the pixel array.

Yep. Body cams on cops protect the public. LPRs and other public surveillance devices are a violation of privacy once they are all tied together, and cross referenced with commercial advertising and police data bases. Frankly, cops can't be trusted with the information, so it shouldn't exist.

The integration of these Plus the surveillance that the people installed and use willingly Plus the data that the tech companies have been harvesting (known and unknown) for the last few decades Equals mass surveillance on most of the country ... before the country even objected

Abbott and Paxton have the flock cameras all over Texas. On IH 30, on IH 20, and even on SH276 out by rural Point Texas. I probably missed a number of them because you don’t notice if you are not looking for them. Where’s my catalytic converter money they had the insurance company collect?

Combine Flock with Palantir with AI data centers....they'll have their surveillance state. Once they get trump to do away with the dollar & replace it with Trumps crypto as the world's reserve currency, they can control your money. Control your money, they can control you.... Dystopian

These systems "lawfully" abuse the concept of public space. None of them could have been imagined when the broad and basic constitutional rights were written down. I propose 24/7 publicly reviewable coverage of every congress person & SCOTUS member & POTUS/VPOTUS until we find a viable fix.
