Just because there is nothing like genuine silliness and true friendship.

Michael Warburton@michaelwarburton.bsky.social

PATRICK STEWART singing & dancing on the bridge of the USS Enterprise-D in 1991 as a birthday surprise for STAR TREK creator GENE RODDENBERRY. (never intended for public release this clip eventually surfaced as a DVD bonus feature)

"...the labor theory of value, where you create worth with your time, your boss takes it and gives you some back that you can live on? That does not work" -Oliver Maxwell, founder of Bybi beekeeping collective Sounds silly? What DO we believe about work and value? And worth?

Before we lose our sense of perspective, remember that several municipalities host Pumpkin Regattas, in which contestants paddle giant, hollowed-out pumpkins for prizes. We cannot lose what matters most: the right to be wholly bonkers. In large gourds. #vote

If you see anyone dressed or claiming to be a federal agent, ICE or otherwise, call the nationwide nonpartisan Election Protection voter hotline at 866-OUR-VOTE, and notify a local election official. We Keep Us Safe!

I don't mind if your art is rubbish. I don't mind if I don't really get your point. I don't even care if your idea of art and mine are totally at odds. Your art us infinitely superior to anything out there because it is yours, and you are a human being trying to say something. AIslop is not art. 1/2

I don't get to arbitrate what is art when it's made by a human being. But AI doesn't make anything. It is programmed to do exactly what the companies' owners do: steal, exploit, and hide the evidence. The programming reveals its source in its actions. So let's not forget the source and intent of AI.

Wow! Civilization is so clever! Who knew?!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democra.... #USpol #USA In Australia we can eat and drink whilst in line on election day. In fact because our elections are compulsory and held on a Saturday, School halls are used as polling Stations. Schools fundraise by selling food and drink. We celebrate our Democracy.

They want one woman to stand alone beneath the weight of seven names. Instead, thousands of us will stand beside hers. You wanted Jane Doe? Here we are. #IAmJaneDoe #Pinks ✨

So Etihad Airways is suing the English Premier League for effectively damaging their brand with the guilty verdicts against Manchester City. Tough luck. Maybe Etihad Airways should have examined the business practices of the team they so lavishly sponsored. It may just be on them.🤔

They didn't like that the PL didn't let them know every move the the PL intended to make. And why would they? Etihad Air were neither named in the allegations, nor in the verdict. Were they expecting an opportunity to buy off the verdict? One must not imagine such a thing.

Tonight, NPR quoted one of the Cornell rapists as having said that he thinks the situation was "regrettable." Getting drunk and vomiting in front of his date would be regrettable. Not gang rape. That is Kavanaugh-level dismissal of a woman he feels is beneath his notice. Roast the bastards.

Rewilding is not "letting nature take back," because the seed stock of native plants is desperately depleted and often overrun by invasives. Rewilding/reforestation takes study and time. It does not require degrees and huge outlays of money. The info is available. The seeds/cuttings are too. Go! 🌿

The Guardian posted an article this morning, declaring that "In Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed's candidacy has split the Jewish community," when in fact, it is facing one's own willingness to shrug off genocide or not that is the issue. El-Sayed says no. What will MI voters say? That is the division.

So, McConnell is out for 3 mos., returns, but is so ridiculously feeble that, "Reporters and photographers were instructed by Senate staff not to take video of his remarks."* Oh, but still photos were fine. And They Complied. He is so pathetic that video would damage the illusion. *Per The Guardian

Now where would we find such a law...if it existed 🤔

Dom Ervolina@dominicervolina.com

If only there were a law that said: "Whoever makes or offers to make an expenditure to any person, either to vote or withhold his vote, or to vote for or against any candidate Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned" We could call it 18 U.S. Code § 597 - Expenditures to influence voting

Of course, one prefers a win, but I am not disappointed in the Cottagers. Fulham has played hard and scored in 4 of 5 matches since the season opened. This bodes well for the season, during which they are unlikely to have a string of similarly fire-breathing opponents, all in succession. #FulhamFC

www.npr.org/player/embed... Sorry, AIPAC, but you are not merely being victimized as a proxy for big money in politics. We actually despise your specific aims and goals. Genocide is evil. You support and fundraise for genocide. Our contempt is specific to your mission and your organization.

npr.orgAIPAC didn't always spend on campaigns. Now it faces criticism over money in politicsU.S. support for Israel has been a central issue in Democratic primary contests. That's put a spotlight on the pro-Israel lobbying group AIPAC and the strength of its political influence.

Well, there's that...

Peggy Stuart@peggystuart.bsky.social

Dr Abdul El-Sayed: "It's not radical to believe that people should be able to afford their groceries, have healthcare, or drink clean water." In a political landscape dominated by fear, focusing on core human needs isn't extreme—it's basic common sense for everyday Americans.

What he said:

John Scalzi@scalzi.com

"Why can't you just appreciate how revolutionary the job-taking, environment-degrading, information-shredding, technology-hoarding, economy-swamping machine is?" My brother in Christ, there may indeed be a revolution in part because of "AI," but it might not be the one you wanted.
