Ottawa municipal candidates could learn a lot: "COPE proved it could devastatingly message and mobilize against a multimillion-$ political machine... COPE also made a major concession to the Greens... when its own mayoral candidate... suspended her campaign to avoid splitting the progressive vote"

@nolore.bsky.social after listening to today’s Sandy and Nora I wanted to highlight an article about the Vancouver election. I’ll admit I am part of COPE and it feels good to have good press about us for once, but the plan we started after Sean was Elected worked. thetyee.ca/Analysis/202...

The questions I sent in for the #Ottawa mayor candidates debate tonight: 1) Neil Saravanamuttoo previously said he was against splitting the vote, and implied that he'd drop out if he was behind and his candidacy could undermine a potential defeat of incumbent Mark Sutcliffe. So, what about now?

2) Mark Sutcliffe's website had* land acknowledgement stating "Ottawa is built on un-ceded Algonquin Anishinabe territory." The problem is the official Civic & Cultural Protocol makes clear the name is Anishinabe Algonquin Nation, to be used in all city communication. So how come the mayor doesn't?

And here's the most recent poll, from Quoros Consulting. The undecideds were 33%, but of those with a preference: Sutcliffe 42% Leiper 35% Saravanamuttoo 10% Lawson 7% others 6% But #NeilForMayor is saying "it's anyone's race". All bsky replies are asking him to drop out bsky.app/profile/neil...
