the plot beats of his rise is something straight out of a bbc comedy series, esp his academic station. to act like there was never going to be any schadenfreude (he was at cambridge!!!) or coverage is absurd. but the constant, repeated, intensity of coverage—see also claudine gay—was just racism

the editor of the telegraph especially— should, frankly, blow his brains out. this was a lynching of a man who didn't deserve death or anything close to it. they knew exactly what they were doing unlike a low rent fraud who just backs themselves into a pile of white lies

Yes it was definitely the Telegraph and not the fact that he got caught in a massive lie and had his career prospects Rightfully destroyed. Not to defend the British press but I doubt the articles kicked the chair out from under him. His life was over with or without the bloodsucking British press.

At cambridge there was a professor not only accused of plagiarism but of sexual misconduct & they unlike Arday they weren't turned into an international pariah & the scapegoat for all of the establishment's rage anger against "DEI" The sentence for plagiarism isn't being hounded to death

Okay so if u agree that the british press are backwards racists & that they singled out Arday for his transgression, why are u minimizing their role in his death? Sure they didn't kick the chair out but they sure made sure that he felt like the chair was the only option

dawg, it was an unexpected death but not suspicious. that's suicide. the exact contours of his mental state leading up to it is a mystery to every person except him. but the broad cause and effect here is the easiest logical jump in history

it's... a nearly impossible thing to put into the public domain that doesn't simultaneously assure the public there's not a murderer on the loose and be perfectly sensitive to the family as they mourn. I'm no fan of police press talk but this probably the best they can do

I presume that in the UK, as in most countries, it is the coroner that has the final say in whether it is a suicide, so police probably aren't even allowed to say as much, even if it is very apparent at the scene.
