currently working on reverse engineering/writing a converter for the module format used for the music in moon child/hoi

interestingly, this format seems to have a wavetable-based synthesis/envelope/effects system, as well as proper subtune support there's a variant that can play back 8 channels at once via a driver that downmixes them to the amiga's 4 channels; moon child's music uses this specific variant

here's what i've documented so far, in the form of an annotated imhex pattern file: downtown.wetdry.world/mugician.hex... somewhat surprisingly, the only documentation i could find about the file format before i put this together was a basic description of the header from an old game ripping guide

...hmmm, i was intending on converting to a furnace module, but it seems like its volume envelopes are much lower-res (0 to 64 vs. DMU's -128 to 126) is there a single common tracker format that has higher-res volume envelopes, or am i gonna have to make this a lossy conversion

haven't really worked on this over the past few days (since i've been busy with other happenings) but i managed to get some instruments converted to furnace instruments today i just need to finish up macros, handle wavetable instruments, etc. and then i'll start work on pattern conversion

i have moved the converter inside furnace itself to take advantage of its internal module handling and avoid having to deal with the .fur format directly here is the hoi level 5 music (note that pattern effects, instrument finetuning, etc. aren't yet handled)

updated the format documentation i posted earlier in the thread, it now has more info on effects and some info has been corrected
