He could beat Mario 64 with his eyes closed. But he didn't. There was no point. There was another player named AntiBubzia on the other world doing the exact same thing backwards to cancel out Bubzia's completed run every freaking time.

I always thought the ultimate goal of growing up was mastering things like humility, empathy, and critical thinking. They’re still important, but it turns out, an equally crucial life skill is just learning how to remain unbothered by people who refuse to do any of those things.

shitposts aside, this one is serious, my loves: if you’re just waking up and you have any service online running PHP 5.4 to latest, you need to take it down RIGHT NOW and don’t put it back online until after it’s patched absolutely catastrophic vulnerability dropped in the middle of the night

gifdex.net is now available in *early* Alpha! Gifdex is a platform to find, upload, save, and share GIFs, all powered by the ATProtocol. All your data is held by you, Gifdex simply collects it in a convinent place - move it, delete it, or integrate with it on any other platform seamlessly.ii

or at least some variation, derivative, or model that's friendlier to individuals who want to create and share things

any professional owl drawers have any tips on owl drawing? i seem to be having some trouble finishing my owls

Everything should be back up now! My provider decided to do a rolling restart across their infrastructure, but unfortunately a database configuration/permissions issue prevented it from starting, which resulted in further issues with more services starting.

putting this here because i haven't gotten much feedback elsewhere: does anyone here happen to use nixos? i'm currently using mkosi to build immutable/dm-verity images for a fleet of low-spec devices, but system updates are proving to be next to impossible and i wonder how it would compare for that

i'm aware that both setups would involve systemd-sysupdate in some form, but with mkosi actually building images that won't break instantly when applied is proving to be a hassle

This release will include an important fix for a high-severity (estimated CVSS 7.5) security issue. I recommend that all self-hosters apply the update as soon as possible once it becomes available; I will send another announcement along with further info once it is released.

everyone involved in the double counter incident and its handling, including discord itself, is maliciously incompetent

"but it was just a single breach!" double counter has a history of mismanaging their product and mishandling user data, partaking in activities that are clearly against developer TOS and other generally shady things they have downplayed the severity of this incident and lied multiple times

oh yeah the media has also done a spectacularly awful job at covering this but what do you expect

esmBot v2026.10.0 will be released this Friday, October 9 at approximately 1:00 PM CDT (18:00 UTC). The following info pertains to self-hosters; if you are using the bot through the main instance (@esmBot#0667), you can safely disregard the following.

this has gotten me thinking about how parts could potentially be sourced for newer reproductions of older consoles without resorting to emulation; if we're just talking CPUs, then you're probably out of luck for stuff like Z80 and MIPS, but 6502, PowerPC, and 68k *might* still be on the table

that being said, i'd be *really* interested in seeing if it's at all possible to build a spec-accurate CD-i player (or any other system that isn't the NES!) with components that are as close to the original as possible, but are still manufactured and sold

video and sound chips are going to be much more difficult; i seriously doubt that there's a single one from that era that's still being manufactured, but i'd be pleasantly surprised if there was one

past a certain point it arguably becomes less of an issue, but correct timings are still very important for older systems using a newer CPU with the same ISA as one used in an older system but faster could cause specific titles that rely on that slower timing to break

I still see a lot of confusion about what decompilation, recompilation and ports are and what level of effort is involved in each type of project. It's important that people understand the difference, as recompilation took a drastically different meaning that when it was originally introduced.
