Random dialect musing: Is “Work party” (gathering folks to work together on a task) a West Coast term? A Washington state term? American English? I didn’t encounter it before firing kilns here in WA state, but maybe that was simply being young. A South African friend laughed at the very idea.

I am from WA, my whole life, and now you got me wondering... IS it a regional thing?? It's like one of those sarcastic phrases to spruce something unappealing up: "it's not a help-me-do-chore thing it's a work PARTY har har!"

I’ve lived in East Texas and Southern California, and I’ve never heard the term used in that way. When I hear “work party” I just think of like an office holiday party with your coworkers.
