The absolute funniest part of capitalist ideology is that they somehow managed to convince everyone that "freedom" meant like...the freedom to choose between 63 kinds of shampoo, and not like...the freedom to quit a job you hate without losing your health insurance.

You put a number of options on the table, and they're so busy wrapped up in choosing, they fail to notice you've given them nothing they thought they wanted at the start.

I'd add the note that this is most obviously apparent in the United States of America. In most European countries they severely limited the negative aspects of free market capitalism through oversight, common sense legislation etc. Like, I literally feel everything in the US is a scam by default.

it's the "freedom" to waste a day queuing at a polling station to choose which bunch of corporate shills will be the face of the "government" for the next few years. then the "freedom" to spend the rest of your life in debt and wage slavery

I think like with many things it’s the result of capitalists bending language to talk to two audiences at once. The masses hear “freedom” and imagine that people in other countries can’t have beers around a bonfire. Fellow capitalists hear full *economic* freedom: no regulation, no labor laws, etc
