Something every Democrat can and should do is calmly announce that when next in power they will fully fund, staff, and empower investigations into any and all abuses of power in these four years - and will not let the "look to the future" fetishists in the NYT Editorial Board talk them out of it.

I think we should put an end to all this egghead talk about "policy" and every future administration should dedicate all its resources to prosecuting the previous administration

Two things: 1. Absolutely no one cares what the opposition party's policy platform is 1.5/3.5 years out from an election. 2. I think anything we can do to make an ICE agent 10% less likely to crack the skull of a vaguely hispanic looking bystander is good policy, actually.

Also such investigations, if led by the Executive branch, will be made using any and all powers and precedent the Supreme Court has provided to Trump

This is exactly what they should be pushing for. Make it clear that what is happening is unnatural and illegal, and that this is not the new normal. Nothing will happen, of course, but then the perpetrators can't claim ignorance.

They won’t announce that because they don’t want to do that. They will never do that. They are not an opposition party. They will want to put all this behind them as soon as possible. There are no consequences coming. Ever.
