/ Thoughts: It's good when people who didn't agree with me change their minds. However, exactly how much grace I offer them post-revelation depends on a range of factors. My tent is big and so has room for many people. It's also large enough that I can let someone in but not sit with them.

Bluesky idea: if people who didn't agree with you change their opinions so that they do agree with you, why not be happy that you are making progress - rather than complaining that they are "only just catching up"?

/ First, your position matters. If you are a professional pundit entrusted with helping the public make sense of politics and you somehow failed until this week to spot or accept the most significant and obvious story since Nixon... ... I'm going to tell you suck at your job.

/ Second, the cause and scope of your awakening is relevant. Are you here because the leopards eat your face? Are you still on board with the leopards eating all of the other faces? Has this experience given you any empathy for the faces you were cheering the leopards to eat last week?

/ Third, there's how you treated people in my tent while you were still happily outside. My expectations for an acceptable mia culpa rise exponentially if you were publishing one "People concerned about leopards eating faces are hysterical communist leftie soy boys" op-ed a week since 2014.

/ Fouth, and finally, there's how you act post-revalation. Is every word out of your mouth dripping with entitlement for the party we should throw now that you've deigned to join the side of the angels? Have you grown or just pivoted? Have you seen the light, or just the gleam of a new grift?

/ We should of course leave room for almost anyone to come in out of the cold. We should also have grace for those who do so from a genuine place with a good heart. However, you do not owe the Richard Hannania's of this world anything. Putting on our jersey doesn't change the black heart beneath.

/ P.S I stayed on Team Trump because while I think he's a monster, Bluesky would not be sufficiently welcoming if I left is just Uno Reverse "The Left Made me Fascist".
