Everyone is rightly focused on his "low wage foreigners" comment but I'm infuriated by the "we're going to restore dignity to the working class by bringing back manufacturing." NO YOU WON'T. MASS HIGH WAGE FACTORY EMPLOYMENT FOR NON-COLLEGE EDUCATED WORKERS IS NOT COMING BACK. YOU KNOW THIS.

JD Vance says his faith makes him averse to “low wage foreigners”

Modern factories do not lucratively employ half the men in the town straight out of high school to work an assembly line on union contracts. That was a weird blip in the 1950's when automation hadn't taken off yet and the US was the only country in the world whose factories weren't blown to shit.

It just makes me so mad because, as much as I loathe talk about 'economic anxiety' I can hardly blame people for expecting mass manufacturing jobs to magically re-appear when POLITICIANS KEEP PROMISING THAT. Makes me so mad I want to write a book. (This book). www.amazon.com/dp/191448711...

Just services generally, but we've decided that's all too Gen-Z Boss and a Mini coded and so we must yearn for some mines.

As a nurse of 14 years, it doesn't help that many caring professions are not unionized. Unions like SEIU and National Nurses United are doing their best to organize, but hospitals and nursing home owners are vicious, aggressive union busters.

Also, the hospital and nursing home lobby and industry groups are incredibly aggressive and effective at killing state and federal legislation to improve employee and patient safety. For example, only a handful of dates have mandatory safe staffing laws that limit staff:patient ratios.

Neither CMS nor TJC (a private org that accredits hospitals on behalf of CMS) have concrete, enforceable rules or requirements around safe staffing ratios. Hospitals can and do have wildly unsafe staffing and still get millions in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement.
