The hope is that the moderation tools allow people to make this a very unrewarding pace to be a drama hog and the kind of right wing shithead who thrives on pissing people off just won’t have any fun. They can join but they’ll quickly come up against a wall of really effective blocks.

No platform is perfect and jerks always find ways to thrive. But this place makes it harder to go viral with controversial takes and, at least for now, the culture is to block and not engage. It makes me cautiously optimistic. Time will tell though.

Because of how robust blocking is here and the communities dislike of dunk/ratio posts, rage bait, and being able to remove your post from someone's bad faith Quote post they lose so many outs to get their precious attention. They won't last long.
