I’ve had a few people ask “oh, so is disagreeing with Gavin Newsom on trans athletes a PURITY TEST?” And yes, protecting trans people from discrimination is a vital purity test. It is pathetic and disgusting how many people who claim to be Democrats are failing it.

It is also pathetic and disgusting how these people fail to grasp that the end-game here isn’t just forcing a tiny number of trans kids out of sports (which is bad enough!) : it’s forcing all women and queer people out of sports and public life.

I keep imagining the effect of blood tests and genital inspections of half a million college athletes. In addition to the vulnerability to sexual abuse, out of that many people, the odds say they’d discover up to 10,000 with intersex traits whose lives could be upended.

Bad as that is, I'm not sure even that's the endgame. I think the endgame is full White Christian Nationalism, and that's why we all have to fight as hard as we can, and take care of each other as tenderly as we can.

In Dec president of NCAA said he believed there were fewer than ten trans athletes among the 500k collegiate athletes. Trump EO bans trans athletes. NCAA cowed and obeyed. Then Trump pulls funding for all sorts of research. NCAA bball tourney starts soon. Big $ event. Big opp for protests.
