Yet the wrong lesson was taken away. When formerly unhabitable areas become livable, it doesn't mean 'fill the newly viable space with MORE'. It means 'reduce population density everywhere'.

Uh, low density human habitations are way worse for the environment and climate change than dense green cities

And? The point is that it’s not acceptable to increase the population just because there’s somewhere new they can go.
