Call it what it is, the Trump Genocide. Trump sees his pending mortality and will burn down everything because he knows he cannot take it with him. Upon his death, America and the World will remove the trump name from everything. He will retain as many "named" items as Hitler.

The regime will be responsible for a larger death toll certainly than Pol Pot. Historians in a hundred years may ascribe it with an even larger death toll than you know who, depending on how the death rate from the pro fossil fuel, pro virus and anti scientific research crusades work out.

Sadly, even if we restored this funding today and went on to prosecute every person responsible for it, we still would never wash this stain away. It's a horror that will be remembered forever.

We can also change our laws and constitution to keep it from happening again, provide greater support and independence to the UN and other international institutions, favor the kind of direct and local funding that most helps lift populations out of poverty -- and always remember why.

a large part of it is that we have a shit ton of money and the aid infrastructure that was developed post war that massively benefited the US as a form of soft power was also largely controlled by us. it is very hard to quickly rebuild that after a sudden, shocking rug pull.
