As a middle schooler, even I knew how dumb everything was. My protest was to wear a rainbow tie dye shirt on 9/11/2002, really thought I was doing something there

yeah, i had recently turned 13 on 9/11 and it was such a weird time to be newly political conscious (i got into reading politics blogs)

Oh yeah, I feel that. Just being 13 and having big thoughts suddenly about jingoism

I'm having some galaxy brain thoughts about this right now, just the idea of 9/11 happening when I was 12 and then feeling at the time like the broader cultural vibe was identical to how my middle school classmates talked about 9/11...like it foreshadowed the "everyone is 12 now" theory
